Info Piece #999 - Minerals - The rug that ties the room together...

When the average person thinks of health they think of Vitamins. They start to match the vitamin with the benefits it promises to deliver. what I come to tell you today people is that Vitamins alone are not enough! I know, mind blowing right I mean we have been taught to "eat our vegetables and take our vitamins" in order to become strong and healthy! Well it turns out that as important as vitamins are they can do nothing for you without the help of minerals. Although about 18 minerals are known and required for body maintenance and regulatory functions, RDA's (Recommended Daily Allowance) have only been set for what could be deemed as the top 7
  1. Calcium
  2. Iodine
  3. Iron
  4. Magnesium
  5. Phosphorus
  6. Selenium
  7. Zinc
A little known but very important fact is that vitamins cannot function nor can they assimilated without the aid of minerals. More important the body itself can synthesize some vitamins but cannot manufacture a single mineral on it's own. So make sure you monitor your RDA when it comes to minerals because you may need more of them than you think.

Info Piece #1000 - Credit FICO - The Only Score That Matters

Here shortly within the next few months a series of laws will pass in congress that everyone hopes will convince the banks to start back lending money, thus easing the credit tension most of us suffer under right today. I truly hope this will have a ripple effect on the rest of the economy as a buyers market can hopefully turn back into a seller dominated market. In a buyers market goods and services are often over produced thus bringing down the pricing index. Whereas the sellers market is solely  price  dictated severely scaling back production and placing much more emphasis on selection and quality as opposed to quantity dictated buyer's market. The very first thing we all must do in order to remain a relative player in the game is to have credit. We need to be able to spend beyond or capable means in order to stretch the fabric of the economy. This not only entails personal credit but also business credit. Somehow we Americans must somehow begin to take back control of this country with the network of small businesses. The same small businesses that supplemented us as a nation for hundreds of years.

Info Piece #1001 - Growing Tomatoes Arizona Style

Here in Arizona it takes a special kind of person to grow tomatoes. A true Arizonan, not in the sense of geography but heat tolerance. If you can respect the heat here you can grow tomatoes with these few simple Rules.
Rule #1 Change soil every year - Never use the same soil  that you used the year before simply because the soil itself is depleted of the most important nutrients and more than likely the Tomato plants wont even survive the initial stage of growth.
Rule #2  Shield plants from the sun - The sun here in Arizona is simply too intense for Tomato plants to take full on. Find a place that will possibly shade the plant during the hottest part of the day.
Rule #3 Support the plant early - To start using stakes or cages for support is a good idea early on as they tend grow very quickly and become top-heavy.
Rule #4 Water the soil not plant - When watering try not to get water on the leaves since the water is retained by the leaves of a tomato plant. Unfortunately the sun heats the water which in turn burns holes in the leaves.
